The Germinare School / Admission Process

Admission Process

One of the differentials of the Germinare School’s pedagogic project is the clarity about the student’s profile that the School expects to receive.

The Germinare School is available to students from all social levels that have an academic base allowing them to follow the School’s demanding pace, but also present certain individual characteristics, like talents in non-academic areas, maturity (coherent with the age bracket), objectivity, willingness, entrepreneur spirit, so, attitudes that may facilitate the construction of a consistent project of life.

The theoretical base of the students’ admission system is the theory of Multiple Intelligences, of the North American psychologist Howard Gardner. The Germinare School will also count on the support of the team from Ismart Institute, specialized in identifying youngsters with high potential.

Students wishing to study in Germinare School will have the opportunity of being evaluated in a more complete way. Their personal history, their extra school talents, their skills and their previous experiences will be taken into account in a more humanized process, which will have the following phases:

1. Checking of the academic level and cognitive potential: form prepared by the Ismart Institute to assess the learning level of students in Portuguese and Mathematics. There will also be a specific test for evaluation of the cognitive potential.

2. Minicurriculum: all candidates of the Germinare School will start preparing their own curriculum, in which they will write, in their own words, about themselves, their dreams, and what they expect from the education and their goals in life.

3. Interviews: the next step will be interviews with experts from different areas for evaluation of the points assessed in the curriculum presented. This human evaluation, based on a set of technical criteria that define candidates minimum requirements, will be the most important point of level assessment.

4. Group Dynamics: finally, all students will go through a group dynamic, which will evaluate the candidate’s behavior towards the group, as well as observe personal characteristics, among which initiative, discipline, leadership, creativity and capacity to teamwork. The dynamic is composed by cooperation games and creative activities, always under the supervision of a qualified personnel.
